What is NewsBot Radio?

It is an iPhone and iPad app that turns public web news and public posts on X into short audio stories. The hosts are Ara and Leo. The hosts and the scripts are AI-generated. Ara is the woman and Leo is the man. They are not real presenters.

How do the voices work?

By default the iPhone speaks the show with Apple voices. No speech is sent to a server for that. A Premium or Enhanced voice sounds more natural than the compact system voice. Download one in Settings, then Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices, and choose English or Dutch.

The key sheet has a switch for xAI voices. It is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, the words of a segment are sent to xAI to be spoken, and that call uses your xAI key. If that call fails, the iPhone voice reads the segment instead.

What is test mode, and what is live?

Test mode replays a show already saved on the phone and labels each segment Replay. It does not call xAI. If nothing is saved and a desk key is set, one live show can run.

Live mode makes new stories. It calls xAI with your key, unless you have pasted a station feed address. A debug build starts in test mode until you turn it off. A release build starts live. The switch in the key sheet is remembered. A launch argument can override it for one launch.

Why is there music between stories?

The next story takes time to write. A short original instrumental bed plays in that gap so the audio does not drop out. The music is generated in the app. It is not a commercial recording, it does not name a track, and making it does not call an API.

How are posts chosen, and how are they credited?

For a live show on the phone, xAI runs one web search and one X search. The app asks for a small set of recent public stories and a small set of public posts. It prefers named newsrooms and official records for the fact of the story, and it treats posts as opinion. The spoken script names the author and says the post was on X. It does not invent a follower count. Stories already heard that day are skipped. A story whose record is older than about 36 hours is dropped when the time can be checked.

How do I report a wrong or harmful segment, or ask for a post to be removed?

Email support@newsbotradio.app with the station, the time, and the story title. There is no report button in the app.

On a phone that makes the show itself, that copy lives on the phone. Deleting the app removes it from the device. We cannot delete someone else’s post from X. If you later use a shared station feed, email us and we can stop putting that segment into new shows. We still cannot remove the original post from X.

How do I delete data?

There is no account and no cloud profile to close. Delete NewsBot Radio from the iPhone. That removes the app’s settings, the xAI key in the Keychain, the saved shows, the list of stories already heard, and the caches.

You can also clear the station feed field and save. An empty feed means the phone stops fetching a shared show and makes the show itself. Clearing the key field and tapping Save does not remove the key. The save button writes a key only when the field is not empty. Deleting the app is how the key is removed.
